Columbus native and jazz legend Gene Walker passed away Monday at the age of 76 at he Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

 

Walker was known internationally for his skills on the nor sax player.  He toured with many artist like Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Aretha Franklin, The Isley Brothers, Neil Diamond, Wilson Pickett and The Beatles to name a few.  Around town Walker led his own group Gene Walkers Generations and played at many venues.  Walker was inducted into the Columbus Musicians Hall of Fame in 1988.
