jesse jackson jr washington dc house for saleRep. Jesse Jackson Jr. is putting his Victorian-style home in Washington D.C. on the market for a $2.5 million, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The Chicago congressman, who has been on medical leave for the past three months to dealing with bipolar disorder, recently left the Mayo Clinic where he was receiving treatment. Before Mayo, he was being treated at Sierra Tucson in Arizona.

The Tribune has more:

The Sept. 8 real estate listing, posted on the Metropolitan Regional Information Systems, says the home was built in 1921 and has four bedrooms, three full baths, two half baths, five fireplaces, a gourmet kitchen, a sun room and a rooftop deck with a Jacuzzi.

It notes that the sellers “need to find a home of choice.”

Jackson, 47, entered Congress in 1995 and faces re-election in the 2nd Congressional District on Nov. 6. Frank Watkins, a spokesman for the congressman, had no comment today.

The listing shows the home was purchased for $575,000 in 1998 and has 2,936 square feet of living area. It shows its assessed value in 2011 was $1,293,990 and its tax bill that year was $10,999.

Property records in Washington, D.C. list the owner of the home as “Jesse Louis Jackson, Jr., trustee.”

Jackson Jr. and his wife, Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson, also own a home in Chicago. The Hill, a D.C. political news website reports that, while Jackson’s aides have repeatedly said that he will run for reelection in November, news that his home is on the market will spark speculation that those plans may have changed.
