The small village of Dixville Notch, New Hampshire opened up the polls at midnight to begin voting on election day. They’ve been doing it this way for over 50 years.  For the first time in history all 10 of Dixville Notch’s registered voters split down the middle. 5 voted for President Obama and 5 voted for Govenor Romney.

 

The votes have also been counted in Hart’s Location, New Hampshire which is south of Dixville Notch. Hart’s Location, New Hampshire is the second area in the United States that opens up the polls early.  The results were more favorable for President Obama.  The President garnered 23 votes. Mitt Romney picked up 9 votes and Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson picked up 1 vote.
