Congratulations to 55th Annual Grammy Award winner Robert Glasper and the Robert Glasper Experiment collective for their big win tonight. Robert Glasper took home the award for Best R&B Album for the 2012 release entitled Black Radio.

The award was presented by a music icon and legend himself, songwriter/producer/musician Jimmy Jam. The 34-year-old jazz pianist and producer Robert Glasper was flanked by a full entourage including R&B/soul music chanteuse Ledisi as well as the additional members of the collective featured in the Robert Glasper Experiment.

During his acceptance speech, Glasper thanked each of the members of the band, vocalists who appeared on Black Radio as well as the late great Detroit musician, producer and Hip Hop artist James Yancey (better known as J. Dilla or Jay Dee) whom Glasper credits as a major source of “musical inspiration” in his career.
