Shreveport native Monyetta Shaw is best known for her role on VH1’s Atlanta Exes and her relationship with R&B superstar Neyo who she has two children with.

It was rumored that he broke up with her on Instagram, without telling her first. But Shaw rebounded with a stint on reality TV, although she says the fact that her relationship ended is still tough.

“It’s not as cut and dried as they make it seem. We decided as a family not to have anymore kids. Because you don’t think you’re not going to be together for the rest of your lives. At least I didn’t. My parents have been together for 43 years, so that’s all I know.

I’m like OK, we have a boy and a girl, that it. He didn’t say it’s a wrap. But people change even being in that industry and he’s away more than he’s here. We’re still great friends, things happen you have to forgive and forget. We have two amazing, beautiful children.”

Shaw who has pursued a career as an actress says that despite the public scrutiny and the breakup, she doesn’t have any regrets.

“I wouldn’t. Of course, growing through it is very hard and you’re like, am I going to get through this but you have to have faith that it gets better and that this too, shall pass. If I didn’t do it, I wouldn’t have my beautiful kids.”

Neyo has apparently already moved on to a new woman, Crystal Renay. But would Monyetta, like her Atlanta Exes co-star Tameka Raymond, allow her kids to be in any future wedding Neyo has?

“I’d have to sit down and get to know her,” she says. “Then she could meet the kids and all the good stuff.”

As far as Shaw’s love life, she’s been dating since the breakup, but she says there’s nothing serious so far.

“I’d date a regular guy if he has good qualities and if he’s a good dude. It’s not about me anymore. That’s why I’m a bit skeptical. I’m a full-time mother and they come first, so that makes me take a minute.”

No confirmed word yet on whether Atlanta Exes is returning to VH1, but you can follow Monyetta Shaw on Instagram here.
