TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) –
Toledo Mayor D. Michael Collins passed away Friday at the age of 70.
Collins had been listed in critical condition at the University of Toledo Medical Center for nearly a week after suffering cardiac arrest while driving on Sunday, Feb. 1.Read more about Collins’ life and accomplishments in his obituary here.
The city says Collins suffered the cardiac arrest while driving around 2 p.m. Sunday, which caused him to lose control of his car and hit a pole near the intersection of Hill Avenue and Parkside Boulevard. Two citizens saw the vehicle and called 911. They broke a window to get Collins out of the vehicle and performed CPR until paramedics arrived. Collins was rushed to UTMC.
