ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) –

Drugs appeared to be a family business in Lorain County. Police arrested 30 relatives accused of running a major trafficking ring.

“This family and this organization has been around for decades in Elyria, so we used probably a decade’s worth of intelligence and information to develop the case,” said Sgt. Jim Welsh with Elyria Police.

They’ve been titled the Burns, Milton and Tillman cocaine trafficking organization, all busted by a team of investigators from the Lorain Police Narcotics Bureau, Lorain County Sheriff’s Drug Task Force and Elyria Police Narcotics Unit.

The big bust and round-up happened Friday as law enforcement executed nearly 20 search warrants. Police say Christopher Craig and Bernard Washington were bringing 3 kilos of cocaine from Cuyahoga County to Elyria. They were trying to deliver it to Jarvice Burns and Travis Milton, who had $43,000 in cash on them to make the purchase. From there, the cocaine would have been split up among the rest of the family to make the sales on the street.

Even caught up in this is the grandmother of the family, 67-year-old Grace Milton. The majority of the big transaction happened in her Elyria home. She’s charged with conspiracy to traffic cocaine.
