R&B Divas: L.A. star Brave Williams is a native of Baltimore who watched in shock as her city burned earlier this month. But she says that Baltimoreans can’t ever be kept down for long.

“I saw a lot of unity and a lot of love that was taking place for us to restore our city,” Williams says. “Baltimore is a very resilient city. I got up at 4 a.m. to help clean up. It wasn’t a white or Black thing.”

Williams says that the scene on North and Pennsylvania was one of unity, not the dissension that that the mainstream media focused on.

“Thee was a lot of unity,” she says. “I got that feeling and I just moved on it.I know sometimes feel that the problem is far greater than what we can contribute but everyone can contribute in some way, shape or form. There’s always a way to get involved.

I have a mentorship program and I’m actually working now with the former police commissioner on a project to go back to Douglass and do a boot camp over the summer. I’m big on health and fitness. I just think that these kids have something to say and they need to know people are out here that care. I just feel like everyone can do something.”

Brave is coming out with her first solo project Fearless a seven-song EP. It’s available HERE for free download on May 21. Her fragrance, Me, is out now as well.
