Interstate 70 eastbound between 270 and Wilson Road was closed for more than three hours after the crash.
Investigators say the child’s father was trying to change lanes on I-70 East near Wilson Road when he lost control, and slammed into an electronic construction road sign, then went off the roadway. The Accident Investigation Unit spent hours looking along the roadway for clues and re-tracing the steps that may have led up to the crash.
Police are also looking into the rainy, windy conditions as potential factors.
