I’m at a place in life where I’m fully living out my purpose and dreams. Although I consider myself a late bloomer, I feel that I am exactly where I supposed to be. It’s never too late to life your best life.

When I think about my progress, I realize that I was holding myself back. I want to inspire others to make their dreams a reality, so I sat down and thought about the top five things I believe kept me from living my dreams. See my list below:

1. Fear: After things didn’t go as planned and years started to pass by, I began to become fearful that I would never get to a place where I could begin to get on the right path toward fulfilling my dreams.

Tip: Start doing something each day that will put you in position to make choices that will turn the direction of your life. Do research, pray, believe in yourself and find a mentor.

2. Lack of Motivation: One of the worst things you can do is get comfortable where you are when you know you want more. It can be very hard to stretch yourself and begin to do things that are uncomfortable, but you must do it!

Tip: Take a risk! You need to take a risk that pays off to help build your confidence and reignite belief in yourself.

3. Distractions: You have to get focused. Sit down and decide what it is you want to do. Create a plan to get things done. Eliminate anything and anyone that will keep you from making your dream a reality.

Tip: Put yourself and your dream first. If its going to get you closer to your dream, it’s a waste of time.

4. Living in the Past: If you tried once and it didn’t work, try again. Success has its time. Sometimes you aren’t ready to receive the dream or prepared to pursue the dream. Live in the now.

Tip: Forgive yourself for anything you believe you’ve done in the past that is holding you back. Find positive confirmations to recite to yourself daily. Let go of negative people. Take another chance on yourself.

5. Old Habits: Don’t get stuck. I found myself living on auto-pilot. The days went by and nothing changed. I got up, went to work and came home. Each day I felt unfulfilled, but I didn’t do anything about it. You must do something different if you want something different. No one can change the outcome of your life…it starts with you.

Tip: Create new habits. Be proactive and intentional. Do things on purpose and with purpose. If you change your mind, you can change your situation.
