John Monds

Monday would have made his 68th birthday, and tonight it’s only right that we celebrate the one and only Rick James. The “King of Punk Funk” passed away on August 6, 2004 from natural causes but we’re left with great memories of his R&B contributions that will go down in history. Just ask Prince who credits James as an early influence. Here’s one interesting fact about James: He joined the US Navy at the age of 14 years old after lying about his age and was later ordered to fight in the Vietnam War.

We’ll kick off the Wednesday Night Mini Concert at 8pm so come and join in on the fun memories. We also have the #OHSOREALScenario following the #WNMC at 8:30.  You can get the inside scoop early from our new Facebook page ‘Love and R&B with John Monds’. Have you liked our page yet? Give us a try and invite your friends in on the fun. You can also leave your requests for a favorite Rick James song you’d like to hear. Each Sunday-Thursday it all starts at 7pm-12am. It’s all #LoveAndRnB!
