Anika Noni Rose has a new role in Starz’s Power, and we cannot wait.

According to PEOPLE, the 43-year-old will play LaVerne “Jukebox” Ganner, a cop who “goes way back with some of the show’s major players.”

No word on who her character knows from the past, but it does sound like the actress herself is having an amazing time while on set.

“I loved it,” says Rose of working with the tight-knit cast which includes Omari Hardwick, 50 Cent, Joseph Sikora, Naturi Naughton and Lela Loren. “I have done a lot of guest-starring and had a lot of good experiences, but I think between the work, the great crew and the welcoming way the cast I worked with received me, this has been my favorite.”

One downside of the role: Her heavy police officer belt.

“[It was] heavy and the opposite of comfortable. I had a bruise on each hip at the end of shoot days. My little body did not enjoy that belt,” she said.

Rose has played an officer before, starring in Bates Motel as Special Agent Liz Babbitt. But we’re thinking this role is far less horror-filled.

We look forward to seeing the beauty on Power, which airs Sundays (9 p.m. ET) on Starz.
