……and I’m not talking 40 acres and a mule! A recent study by the United Nations’ Working Group Of Experts on People of African Descent found the effects from slavery until 2016, are grounds for people of African descent to receive some type of repayment. Take a look.

“In particular, the legacy of colonial history, enslavement, racial subordination and segregation, racial terrorism and racial inequality in the United States remains a serious challenge, as there has been no real commitment to reparations and to truth and reconciliation for people of African descent,” the report stated. “Contemporary police killings and the trauma that they create are reminiscent of the past racial terror of lynching.” The report suggests that people of African descent in the United States can be repaid in educational opportunities, technology transfer, financial support and debt cancellation. ESQUIRE FUN FACT: Did you know that in countries like Berlin, Amsterdam and London have had similar protests about police brutality supporting Black Lives Matter? (I just found out myself). #EPD: Do you think that reparations would be helpful in getting to a level of equality or will it only deflect from African American treatment in the United States?
