This all comes with his upcoming appearance on Iyanla: Fix My Life where he says he feels betrayed by his ex-band mates who he calls ‘brothers” for not being there for him. Life coach Iyanla Vanzant encourages McCary to

“It was like little back spasms at first, and then they would get stronger and stronger. Each time it would get more harsh,” he says. “Once I was about 22, it started going to full-scale.”

McCary said what made him leave the group was when doctors found a nerve that was wrapped around his spine that could leave him paralyzed if he simply stepped the wrong way. Iyanla says by speaking up, McCary can begin to heal the other part of himself that needs care.

You can see this upcoming episode on Nov. 5 at 9 p.m. ET on OWN.
