Donald Glover a.k.a Childish Gambino is being accused of stealing his number one hit record, “This is America.” An artist named Jase Harley says that its a rip off of his song called, “American Pharaoh” from his project Free Pxrn: The Memoir of an American Heathen, and that Gambino copied the beat, as well as elements of the flow. Take a listen to the two songs to see if you hear any comparison. Listen below:

Gambino hasn’t replied to Harley but his manager did. His manager tweeted, “The Internet is a place of no consequences. I hate that Toronto Akademiks/every white blogger can say something as gospel and y’all take it. This song is 3 yrs old, and we have pro tools files to prove it. but f*ck you and your moms, and your future fetuses. Stay blessed.”

It doesn’t seem like Harley is harboring any hard feelings. He is giving Gambino a pass and feels “extremely humbled” to have possibly inspired Gambino’s song.

Harley said that the controversy should not “dilute the message me and @childishgambino are trying to convey … about injustices we’ve encountered.” He added that the focus should be on “affecting change in our communities and building equality.”
