Written by Lauren Luna –
Last summer was my first solo show in ten years. For an artist, a solo show is the equivalent of headlining at a venue. Every artist strives to make that happen. It means all the paintings in the gallery are mine. As luck may have it, the show ran from July through September. Being the overachiever that I am, I didn’t want the message to end there. So I present to you, State of Our (Un)Union, in book form!
These paintings are my visual statement on popular culture and calling to attention the negativity that we as a people have embodied. These paintings are made to draw attention to what our society has become, and calls for something to be done. My aim is to stir something within you, because only when something is felt will actions be made. Enjoy.
