Emergency brain surgery last year saved Mikia Rhodes but forced the mother of four to move her family in with her parents.
This year, the home of James and Jackie Rhodes — in a neglected East Side neighborhood — will undergo a radical procedure of its own.
Stars and crews from the hit ABC series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition surprised the Rhodes family yesterday with news: Say so long to this old house.
Sometime today, central Ohio contractors and thousands of volunteers will flatten the 941-square-foot structure.
Then, less than a week later, they will introduce the family to a showpiece of a home.
Until the new house is “revealed” on Wednesday, family members have been whisked off to San Diego for a vacation courtesy of the show. (The episode is to air at Christmastime.)
