When we first heard about this at the radio station we thought this was a sting operation but after a little bit of investigating we see it’s the truth!
Franklin County is giving defendents a get out of jail free card. Instead of carting non violent offenders to jail, the city and it’s community partners will host the ‘Safe Surrender’ Program August 23rd-25th. The ‘Safe Surrender’ program helps clear warrants, reinstate licenses, and increase employment opportunities by dropping warrants for non-violent cases, misdemeanors, and traffic cases.
Now don’t be fooled by the safe surrender title, this program isn’t for everybody. If you have assault charges, domestic violence, or any other violation of substantially similar seriousness then find you a lawyer and handle it the right way. You don’t want to rush the scene just to be carted off to jail.
