So is this what we’ve come to as black women?? ‘It’s free swipe yo EBT’, apparently that’s all you have to do for the rest of your life as a black women, is reproduce as many babies as you can and let the government support them financially. And yes the satire didn’t miss me, I get that this video is making fun of poor black women who chose to rely solely on government assistant even to the extent of breeding more children to make ‘big bucks’. The problem is that no one is laughing but white Americans who think this stuff is true! There just sitting back feeling completely validated in their misconceived notions about the black women and the black family. Why do we as black people always have to make fun of ourselves about serious issues that plague our lives everyday. There are real black mothers out there that struggle to make ends meet for their children and keep their family unit together. Instead of focusing on their hardships, you have people who slap them with the ‘welfare’ tag and subsequently mock their growing pains with videos like these only validating people who think low of the average single black mother.

Government assistant is not a life a single mother chooses, it’s the one she’s forced into as a means to care and provide for her children. Every black mother would love be able to raise her children in a stable household with two loving parents who can provide for their family void of any government assistants. No mothers’ proudest moment is taking a trip to the welfare office or being completely dependent on the system to feed her children. Life isn’t ‘fun’ for a mother when she knows that she can’t give her children everything they want, or at the very least, need.

Sometimes I wish we as black people would react with the same anger and outrage when people of our own race cast us in a bad light as would certainly be the case if a white person were to do so. This video is just one more fail in a long line of satire fails. Why are we targeting single mothers when the cycle of single motherhood is a direct result of a system intended to break up the black family unit leaving black women to carry the financial burden of raising their children. The purpose of satire is to use wit and humor to make constructive social criticism, in this case the satire looses its’ ‘constructiveness’ because it isn’t aiming its’ message at the right target!
