With a name that mean’s “love,” South Africa’s highest-selling artist LIRA’s music oozes with her positive and inspirational lyrics. The multilingual soul singer is coming to America’s shores to grace the festivities for the Inauguration of President Barack Obama on January 21st with her uplifting music, an honor bestowed only to a very few. She will be performing at the 2013 Ambassador’s Ball, the evening’s first ball which is hosted by ambassadors, dignitaries, Heads of State, Embassy officials of the international community.

The Ambassador’s Ball will be hosted by DJ Biz Markie, and, along with LIRA, will be flanked with performances by other international musicians such as Mi Casa and Anané Vega.

LIRA is often compared to legend Miriam Makeba, who’s one of her influences along with Stevie Wonder, and describes her music as “a fusion of soul, funk, and elements of jazz and African.” If you want to catch the talented South African beauty’s sounds, she’ll be at New York’s S.O.B’s on Wednesday, January 23rd.
