Pauletta Washington was not in a rush to marry Denzel.
In a recent interview Denzel’s wife Pauletta revealed that she turned down Denzel’s marriage proposal twice before saying “yes.”
When Denzel was an aspiring actor during this time and Mrs. Washington just was not convinced he was the one.
Mrs. Washington told Access Hollywood, “It was three times. I know with age sometimes things,, the mind [goes].” Denzel quipped, “You heard it here first,” he said. “She turned me down, she said no. And since it was three times, that means she turned me down twice.”
The couple has been married for 30 years.
