Things may look amazing from the outside, but you never know the pain and violence that goes on behind closed doors.
It’s being reported that model and actress, Eva Marcille had to take out a restraining order on the father of her child, Kevin McCall recently. TMZ reported that Marcille took out the order after McCall kicked down several doors in her home and snatched their two-month-old baby, Marley from her arms, threatening to punch her. It’s also being reported that McCall chased Marcille around the house.
McCall has recently denied any allegations via Twitter, saying:
It seems Eva was denying the incident as well, a short four days after she had the restraining order placed on him, she was all smiles on Instagram with him and their daughter, with the hashtag #FamilyFirst. That’s certainly not the 100 ft. of space the restraining order required between the two torn lovers.
We’ve seen this behavior before. A restraining order is only a piece of paper and can’t truly keep people away from one another, especially when the one who asked for the order chooses to invite the aggressor back into their lives as if the incident that made them want the order in the first place never happened.
This Norwegian ad campaign, supporting domestic violence is powerful and all-too-real. Similar to the alleged drama brewing between Eva Marcille and Kevin McCall, this couple looks amazing at face value, but we have no idea what’s going on behind closed doors. This ad urges people–neighbors, friends and school teachers, to look out for signs of domestic abuse and report any suspicions to authorities.
Approximately 20 percent of the 1.5 million people who experience intimate partner violence annually obtain civil protection orders. Approximately one half of the orders obtained by women against intimate partners who physically assaulted them were violated. More than two-thirds of the restraining orders against intimate partners who raped or stalked the victim were violated.
As many instances of abuse take place behind closed doors, like Eva and Kevin’s alleged incident, I can only hope that shocking campaigns like this Norwegian ad will bring greater awareness and help save victims from abusive relationships. But we’ve got to be willing to first save ourselves. I am not saying that Kevin is putting his hands on Eva or that Eva is a foolish woman for staying with him if he is, but if there is violence taking place, there needs to be more of a no tolerance policy amongst women. Do you agree?
