According to Fox 28, the formal dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute is set for Friday.

But, the day before, ABC6/FOX28 got a sneak peek at the third-largest cancer hospital in the U.s. and largest in the Midwest.

Medical experts say the new “James” will integrate patient care with robust research to deliver the most advanced cancer care while advancing the pace of research discoveries.

Dr. David Schuller, vice-president of the OSU Medical Center Expansion and Outreach and CEO Emeritus of The James, says, in some cases, the researchers will be just steps away from the patient.

“It’s not that all of the research is being done here, but that research that takes advantage of having interactions with clinicians, and researchers and patients is now being done here. our architects tell us that that is a unique design of any medical center in the world.”

The hospital is on course to open to the public on December 15, 2014.

“This is a hospital that will offer increasing hope,” Dr. Schuller said.

“It will impact the lives of literally millions of people who receive their treatment here, and multiples of millions of people throughout the world by virtue of the research that’s done and aided by this building.”
