It still seems a bit weird that Mayor Coleman will not run for another term, but the show must go on. According to Fox 28/ ABC 6, Andrew Ginther became the first candidate to officially enter the 2015 campaign for mayor of Columbus Tuesday morning.
“Columbus is a 21st century American success story,” said Ginther. “Unemployment is lower than any time since the Great Recession.
We’re investing in pre-k, fighting childhood hunger, and tackling infant mortality. And we’re taking a stand for equality of opportunity for every person in our city.
I believe every neighborhood should share in our success. In too many neighborhoods, the Great Recession came too early and can’t leave soon enough.
As Columbus’ next mayor, I will help bring good jobs with fair wages to our city. I will invest in workforce development programs to lift up families in hard-hit neighborhoods. And I will keep leading our community-wide efforts to address infant mortality.”
Franklin County Sheriff Zach Scott announced he would also be running for the position in November, shortly after long-time mayor Michael Coleman announced he would not seek re-election.
