According to The New York Post, The Montecito, Calif., mansion (named El Fureidis) where mobster Tony Montana (Al Pacino) and Elvira Hancock (Michelle Pfeiffer) tied the knot in “Scarface” is up for grabs.
The 10-acre property — which boasts four bedrooms, nine bathrooms and 360-degree views of the lavish grounds and Pacific Ocean from its rooftop — is selling for a mere $34 million.
Built in 1906 and originally known for its botanical garden, the setting of the 1983 hit film recently underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation, including the installation of modern luxuries such as underfloor heating and a steam shower.
But many of the classic features of the mansion are still in place: an 18-foot-high central dome adorned with 24-karat gold leaf in the Byzantine-style alcove, as well as a formal dining room ceiling depicting a scene of Alexander the Great conquering Persepolis in 330 B.C. (also designed with 24-karat gold leaf).
A spokesperson for luxuryestate.com, where prospective buyers can find out more about the property, told Caters News, “El Fureidis is one of Montecito’s most celebrated estates and steeped in rich and colorful history.”
Aside from its “Scarface” fame, El Fureidis has hosted a slew of memorable visitors, including Thomas Mann, Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill, Charlie Chaplin and John F. Kennedy.
