Retool Your School is a contest sponsored by Home Depot that gives money to HBCU’s every year to help them make physical improvements. As you may know, some struggling HBCU’s can use that money to make campus improvements. This year’s race, the sixth annual is tight, but there are some new ways to support your favorite HBCU.

“Retool Your School is going phenomenally this year,” says Home Depot’s Melissa Brown.”We have over  half the HBCU’s participating and we’ve given out almost $1 million. This year we’ll award $255,000 to nine HBCU’s.

What’s interesting about this year is that we’ve leveled the playing field by implementing what we call clusters. That gives big schools the opportunity to compete against big schools, medium sized schools the opportunity to compete against medium sized schools and small schools the opportunity to compete against other small schools.”

You can find the leader boards HERE and so far, Texas Southern, South Carolina State and Fisk are on top in each cluster. To vote for your favorite HBCU, you can do so online once per day via the website. But if you use your favorite school’s hashtag, you can use it everywhere via any social media platform, and each hashtag counts as one vote.

Last year’s winner was Knoxville College. So if you have a favorite HBCU, let your votes be heard!
