COLUMBUS, Ohio—More than 65,000 fans dodged rain drops Saturday to see a team many think will compete for a national title this fall. The Ohio State Gray squad beat the Scarlet 10-7 in the spring game scrimmage.

The Gray scored first on a 28-yard TD pass from QB Kenny Guiton to WR Taurian Washington for a 7-0 lead.

The Scarlet squad responded quickly as Terrelle Pryor directed a drive that included a long completion to Dane Sanzenbacher. They capped the drive with a 12-yard touchdown toss from Pryor to Sanzenbacher which tied the game 7.

No one scored again until the fourth quarter, when freshman kicker Drew Basil made a 47-yard field goal, giving the Gray a 10-7 lead.   The Scarlet responded with a strong drive led by QB Joe Bauserman.  A 4-yard TD run by Bo Delande lifted the Scarlet in front 14-10 with 4:48 to play.

The Scarlet then executed an onside kick which was recovered by Spencer Smith. Bauserman then hit receiver James Jackson for a 43 yard gain to the Gray 17. Two plays later Bauserman was intercepted in the endzone by Nate Oliver. The Gray took full advantage, driving 80 yards in the final two minutes.

Guiton hit big on a 45 yard strike to Washington for the go-ahead touchdown with 55 seconds to play.  The Scarlet failed to score with a late possession when Bauserman threw a 2nd INT to Taylor Rice.  Scarlet kicker Devin Barclay missed a 57-yard field goal as time expired giving the Gray a 17-14 win.

OSU opens its season Sept. 2 against Marshall at Ohio Stadium.
