‘Black’ Washington State NAACP Leader Is Really White, Parents Say

Source: @KREMTaylor / NewsOne/Twitter

Former Spokane, Wash. NAACP President Rachel Dolezal had her first television appearance with Matt Lauer on the Today show this morning after she was ousted by her parents as being Caucasian and not black.

“I was drawing self-portraits with the brown crayon instead of the peach crayon, and black curly hair,”

Dolezal has been portraying herself as a black woman for years but doing good work in Spokane for the NAACP.  Rachel became estranged from her parents Larry Dolezal and Ruthanne Dolezal and cut off contact with them sometime after her 2004 divorce, according to The News. The Dolezal parents had adopted four black children, and Rachel took her adopted brother Izaiah Dolezal to live with her when he was a teen.
