(RNN) – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam says people were killed in shooting incidents that targeted two military facilities in Chattanooga, TN, on Thursday morning. Haslam has not said how many people are dead and how many are injured.
Officials do confirm that the shooter is among the deceased.
One of the shootings took place at the Armed Forces Career Center off of Lee Highway, and the other occurred about seven miles away at the Navy Operational Support Center and Marine Corps Reserve Center.
Chattanooga police said the active shooter situation was over almost an hour and a half after the incident was reported.
Five people were reportedly shot, according to the Times Free Press, but officials have yet to confirm that number. A police officer who was shot in the back of the leg is in stable condition.
Gina Mule, a witness, told CNN she was opening up a store near the recruitment center around 10:50 a.m. ET. She said she saw a white male reload his “high-powered” rifle and then drive away in his silver-colored car.
“I looked out, saw a white guy in a silver drop-top Mustang. He had a big, big high-powered rifle. He was opening fire, the Air Force, Marines and Navy offices,” Mule told CNN. “There was no one outside, he pulled up outside the officers and started firing into the building.”
“We know these guys, they come in all the time, thank God no one was killed,” Mule told CNN. “I believe one guy was shot in the back of the leg, they took him away in an ambulance.”
