Are you hip to saving your curls while wearing your hair in the “pineapple?” Well, for those who don’t know, the pineapple style is a great protective style you can use while sleeping. All you do is put your hair up in a stocking (with the curls coming out of the top) to preserve your curls. It can also be a day time look, but I have been wearing the pineapple style to bed and I love the results.

To make the pineapple, all you need is a pair of panty hose and some scissors. Take the scissors and cut the panty hose right above the crouch. See picture below.

To accomplish the pineapple, you simply take the panty hose, put them over your head (like you were putting on a shirt) and push the hose upward. The panty hose should be around your head and your hair should be coming out of the top. See picture below.

My sister has been rocking the pineapple for years, way before wearing your hair natural was popular. So I was no stranger to this style, but I decided to finally try it since I’m getting more comfortable with my hair. After wearing the pineapple for one night, I took the stocking off and reshaped my hair with my fingers. For any pieces that got smashed, I applied Shea Moisture Curl & Style Milk to revitalize the curls (I only had to do this towards the bottom.) See picture of product and hair below.

I loved the results so much, I tried it for another night. After the second night, I did the same thing…I applied the curl & style milk to any area that appeared smashed or dry (mostly around the lower sides of my hair.) See picture after the second night below.

My hair remained full and I never had to wet it. It was so convenient. It took about 30 seconds to a minute to fix any pieces that weren’t in place. The pineapple look is cheap and easy. I’m sure you have a pair of panty hose in your drawer right now that has a hole or snag. So dig them out, and put them to good use.

Stay tuned for next week’s natural hair journey update.
