Tis the season for giving! According to Fox 28, a Secret Santa donated $13,000 to the Westerville Walmart to pay off Christmas layaway accounts.

“The Secret Santa came into our store, told us they had a rough year, but they were still able to pay it forward to some of our customers here, ” says Jennifer Wingo the store manager.

The so-called “Layaway Angel” helped 56 different families, including Malinda Anderson-King.

“I’m still on cloud nine, ” she says. “I can’t believe it.”

The Walmart shopper says she had a difficult time this past year and wasn’t sure how she was going to pay for the $1400 outstanding on her account. Now she doesn’t have to worry. “I’m a commercial driver and I’ve been sick, so I’m out of work.”

The store says this is the first time they’ve had an anonymous donor like this. And for those who benefited from the good will, the shoppers simply want to say “Thank you and Merry Christmas.”
