originally posted on hellobeautiful.com A warrant was issued Wednesday for Bill Cosby’s arrest for the alleged sexual assault of Andrea Constand in 2004, People Magazine reports. Cosby is accused of drugging and assaulting the former Temple University employee at his Elkins Park mansion, sources told People. Constand’s lawyer spoke on the defendant’s behalf. VIA PEOPLE: “Obviously we appreciate the expression of confidence in her. We’ll have to see what happens. We hope justice will be done. We will cooperate fully.” Last summer, outgoing Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman quietly reopened Constand’s case, sending detectives to Canada to interview Constand once again while Kevin Steele, her first assistant, oversaw the investigation. (Steele is now the Montgomery County District Attorney-Elect.)
The existence of the new investigation only became public after the Constand case became an issue in this year’s race for Montgomery County district attorney. In a 2005 deposition, Cosby testified that he had consensual relations with Constand and only gave her Benadryl. Cosby defended the encounter explaining that he had no indication that she was troubled: “I walk her out. She does not look angry. She does not say to me, ‘Don’t ever do that again.’ She doesn’t walk out with an attitude of a huff – because I think that I’m a pretty decent reader of people and their emotions in these romantic sexual things, whatever you want to call them,” reported the New York Times. The case was settled under unknown terms, until the arrest warrant was issued today.
