CLEVELAND – Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Tim McGinty is under the protection of Cleveland Police after a death threat was made against him. The threat, posted on a flyer, called for $500,000 for proof of kill.
The flyer mentioned Tamir Rice. It surfaced less than two weeks after McGinty announced that a grand jury would not charge the officers involved in Rice’s death . The flyer also mentioned race and class war and instructions for collecting the money anonymously.
Sources who received the flyer tell NewsChannel 5 that it was circulating around the West Park neighborhood where the prosecutor lives.
A Cleveland Police Department patrol car was parked outside of his house Thursday.
