According to Fox 28, a concerned inmate’s fiancée reached out to WEAR after a prison riot put the facility on lockdown. She did not want to be identified due to safety concerns for her and her significant other.

She said he called her during the riot and he sounded scared.

“He told me that he loved me, wanted me to know that he loved me, and that I needed to call the news station because it was going crazy in there,” she said. “I could hear screaming, yelling, cursing and then the phone hung up,” she recalled.

Chaos broke out at the William C. Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore, Ala., just after 9 p.m. Friday night. A corrections officer was stabbed while trying to break up a fight in a prison dorm and the warden was stabbed when he went in to investigate.
