Caldwell County sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call about a vehicle crash and found one part of the hot air balloon in a nearby corn field in Lockhart, Texas, under a stretch of high-power electrical transmission lines.  Witnesses describe the crash as ‘a huge fireball going up”. Relatives of the victims will be notified before the names will be released. According to the NTSB, between 1964 and 2013, there have been a total of 760 hot air balloon accidents in the U.S yielding 67 fatal accidents. The hot air balloon was owned and operated by Heart of Texas Hot Air Balloon Rides.
