Many celebrities helped millions of women yesterday get in formation for the Women’s March. Janelle Monáe took the stage with the Mothers of the Movement and rocking “Fem The Future” t-shirts.
“Get off our areolas and get off our vaginas,” Monae said making the crowds of women cheer.
“It was woman that gave you Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It was woman that gave you Malcolm X. And according to the bible, it was a woman who gave us Jesus… We birthed this nation and we can unbirth it when we want to.”
Monáe made a statement against police brutality and linking it as a women’s issue. When she invited the Mothers of the Movement (Sybrina Fulton, Lucy McBath, Maria Hamilton, Gwen Carr), to chant their slain son’s names as the crowd chanted: “Say his name!”
