Sad news as Sparks is currently pregnant with first child.
HelloBeautiful is reporting that American Idol star Jordin Sparks’ step-sister has passed away.
Sparks’ sibling Bryanna Jackson-Frias died due to complications with sickle cell anemia Tuesday evening. Bryanna was only 16-years-old.
“Bry went peacefully to Heaven,” Sparks’s mom, Jodi Jackson, wrote on a Facebook post. “I can’t help to think [that] she’s smiling just like this. Thank you all for your prayers.”
According to the American Society of Hematology, 1 out of 12 Black Americans carries the trait for sickle cell anemia.
