Some folks just can’t appreciate having anything nice.
Who on Earth would not like seeing a powerful black superhero? Republican writer Armond White is one of the few black folks that wasn’t feeling Black Panther.
White tried to downplay the film’s black excellence by accusing it was a “liberal” money-making machine.
“Now that Marvel Cinematic Universe controls Hollywood’s agenda and promotes moviegoers’ immaturity, it sets such a low, formulaic bar that Coogler’s effort to customize it to his hometown, race-conscious ethos never rises above the escapism of other Marvel junk,” White said in his column for The National Review. “This commercial strategy, geared toward adolescents of all ages, resembles the Democratic party’s political manipulation of Black Americans, targeting that audience through its insecurities about heritage, social prestige, and empowerment.”
He also went further showing his “outrage” that TIME magazine would have actor Chadwick Boseman on the cover just before Black Panther dropped.
Though we like to have an open discussion with all black people, we not gonna let anyone ruin this moment for us. BYE HATER!
