The announcement has been made. The Columbus Crew SC will get a brand new stadium in the heart of downtown!

According to MyFoxColumbus.com, the news was unveiled Thursday afternoon and they have major plans. The new stadium will be across from  Arena District in a new 33-acre neighborhood that will be called “Confluence Village.”

It’s expected to cost a pretty penny, around $230 million, and approximately 20k seats. City officials announced Wednesday Mapfre Stadium, the home of the Crew for 20 years, would be converted into a training facility for the team and a community park with soccer fields and walking trails for the public.
