Joe and Donell Jones Went Hit-for-Hit on VERZUZ Last Night!
R&B fans got a real throwback last night as Donell Jones and Joe went head-to-head for VERZUZ: R&B Nights. But Donell made it clear beforehand this wasn’t about beef, it was about celebrating two catalogs that have been giving us hits for nearly 30 years.
And there were definitely some surprises. Donell brought out 702 to perform “Get It Together,” a song he actually wrote and produced for the group. But Joe had a BIG surprise of his own, bringing out 50 Cent for “Wanna Get to Know You,” with Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda also showing up. 50 and Joe even performed “Big Rich Town,” the theme from Power.
When it came to the fan voting, though, Joe dominated the night, winning 18 of the 20 rounds. Joe came out strong, taking the first four rounds before Donell finally got on the board with “This Luv.” So while it was billed more as a celebration than a battle, according to the people who voted Joe definitely won this VERZUZ.
