They’re all part of the cast of Jakes’ indie drama “On the Seventh Day,” a sequel to his 2004 film “Woman Thou Art Loosed.” The film’s four-week shoot — taking place at various New Orleans locations, including Xavier University — will wrap up Aug. 6. Jakes — who has produced such films as “Jumping the Broom” and “Not Easily Broken,” in addition to running his 30,000-member Dallas-based Potter’s House church — is executive-producing the project, based on a script he wrote.
The official synopsis: “A seven-day journey inside the souls and secrets of a husband and wife, Kari and David Ames, as they search for redemption, truth and faith while on a race to find their missing daughter. The film uses the eerie, yet peaceful and beautiful scenery of Louisiana’s bayous and the city’s unique culture to depict a story that everyone can relate to — a story of a couple’s transformation, strength and conviction.”
