An OSU student is accused of trying to stab his roommate this weekend and making bizarre claims upon arrest about his desire to eat his friend’s brain. James Kirk studies Chinese and linguistics at OSU, and lives off campus at a home he bought last year.

Police received a 911 call from that home just after midnight on June 1 from a man who said Kirk wanted to kill everyone inside the house. “I had a friend of mine at his house and his roommate comes in,” the caller said. “He’s extremely drunk and starts describing [how] he’s going to violently stab my friend.” Police say Kirk took out a pen knife that had a 2 1/2 inch blade, walked into the room of Steven White, and attempted to stab him.  White told ABC 6/FOX 28 he was able to wrestle the knife out of Kirk’s hands, and said he didn’t know what provoked the attack. Officers said Kirk told them he wanted to cook and eat White’s brain.

A judge set Kirk’s bail amount at $150,000 for felonious assault. Kirk’s father, Barry, told ABC 6/FOX 28 the bail amount is too high because his son is a model student and citizen who had never been drunk or arrested before the alleged attempted stabbing. SEE VIDEO HERE
