X Factor USA Canceled After Three Year Run

It’s official. FOX has pulled the plug on its Fall singing competition series with former “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell.

Following three seasons with names like Antonio L.A. Reid, Britney Spears and Kelly Rowland on the bill, the network announced that “X Factor” will not be returning Saturday.

The news came just hours after Simon Cowell announced his return to “The X Factor UK,” where he will sit as a judge on the next season.

Despite crowning talented acts like Melanie Amaro and Tate Stevens winners, with prizes like a $5 million recording contract, “X Factor” failed to see any of its winners reach success like that of Cowell’s talents from “American Idol.” On top of that, the series spiraled downward in ratings season after season, dropping as low as just over 4 million viewers last year.
