Beyoncé may have been on to something when she said, “Girls, we run the world.” I think the Spurs got the memo. The San Antonio Spurs hired Becky Hammon as an assistant coach, making her the first full-time, paid female assistant on an NBA coaching staff. Talk about busting the glass ceiling wide open! After she retires from her 16th year with the WNBA’s San Antonio Stars, she will switch gears as an assistant coach for the defending NBA champs.
According to NBA.com, Hammon said, “Nothing in my life has really ever been easy. I’ve always been someone who did it uphill,” Hammon said. “I’m up for challenges. I’m up for being outside the box, making tough decisions and challenges. … And I’m a little bit of an adrenaline junkie. Throw those all in there and this was the perfect challenge and opportunity.”Do you think women will do a good job coaching men? Take the poll below.
