George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic are performing at Lifestyles Communities Pavillion in Columbus in tonight, but before the big show, the legend stopped by the Tom Joyner Morning Show to talk about his new memoir Brothas Be, Yo, Like George, Ain’t That Funkin’ Kinda Hard On You? which will be released October 21st and his brand new image.

If you’re used to seeing Clinton with the crazy yarn in his hair, you’d be surprised to see him now in suits and without the elaborate hairstyles of the past.

On his new image:

“I made underwear out of all that yarn. Ain’t no good drugs, I had to quit. People have tried to sue us because they didn’t think I was George Clinton.”

On why he quit using drugs:

“I had to be clean to tell this story [in the book.] It probably still sounds like I’m tweaking, but I’ll tell that story later.”
