CLEVELAND – The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio has filed a lawsuit against the city of Cleveland on behalf of four people arrested at a protest after the Brelo verdict .
According to the Associated Press, the protesters claim they were trapped in an ally and weren’t given a chance to leave. They also claim they were held in jail for two days despite judge’s ability to process them.
More than 70 protesters were arrested after Cleveland Patrolman Michael Brelo was found not guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the November 2012 shooting deaths of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams .
The ACLU is seeking damages for unlawful arrest and detainment of plaintiffs Stephen McNulty, Khali Weathers, Jason Rodney and Robin Goist.
