CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

You’ve heard of the movement behind #BlackLivesMatter. Now a national conference comes to Cleveland this weekend.

Hundreds from all over the world are expected to attend the three-day event, featuring different presentations and speeches at various locations around downtown. The conference will discuss what is next for its members, and how to influence real change.

“We are defiantly here to be strategic in the Movement for Black Lives Matter and how do we go about getting liberation for our people and hold law enforcement accountable for killings that have been happening,” said Malaya Davis with the Movement for Black Lives 2015.

Karissa Lewis and her 12-year-old daughter, Kyla, have come from Oakland, CA to see the event.

“We are building a movement. There is a war on black folks. It’s important for me to ground my daughter in a fight for liberation,” explained Karissa.
