According to Fox 28, today marks the 11th Annual African-American Male Wellness Walk Initiative at Livingston Park in Columbus Ohio. This year’s theme is Save a Black Man. The Walk Initiative continues to expand to reach over 10,000 men, women and children.

The following is a letter from Honorary Chair Clark Kellogg and Chairman Grady Pettigrew:

“We hope you will be able to take part in this year’s wellness initiative and experience firsthand where over 1,000 men, women and children access free health screenings, the day of the event. The Walk initiative has made a difference and has saved hundreds of lives due to awareness, screening, prevention and follows up. Over the past 10 years our sponsors, vendors and volunteers take pride in supporting our year round cause.

“In order to meet our mission and provide awareness in our community, we rely on the generosity of individuals and businesses for financial and in-kind support. Without the assistance of community-minded individuals like you, we wouldn’t be able to serve those in our community each year.

“The AAMWW Initiative completes more health screenings than any other health initiative in Franklin County.

“We ask that you make a commitment to support our annual appeal by making a contribution. This year our goal is raise $200,000. Your generosity will make a difference in our community by allowing us to continue our work by creating greater health awareness. The walk is an inclusive initiative for all.

“As a sponsor, your name will be placed on all materials and banners that publicize the event and announced verbally at the event itself. I have enclosed the sponsorship form for you to complete and return. Remember every donation makes a difference, regardless of size. Thank you in advance for your support!”
