CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) –

Bernie Kosar, one of the most popular players in Browns history and the last quarterback to lead them to the AFC Championship game, reached out publicly to the team once again on Cleveland 19’s Sunday “Tailgate” show, offering his services to try to fix the most dysfunctional franchise in the NFL.

“I want to do this, okay?,” Kosar told host Tony Zarrella. “And I’ll fire myself if we are not a competitive NFL team within a year or two.”

Kosar, once a part of the Browns preseason broadcast booth, has been openly critical of the organization’s failures since the team returned in 1999.

Kosar said on “Tailgate 19” that he doesn’t blame the players, or even the coaches at this point.  In fact, he wants to protect them from what he calls the “systemic” dysfunction of the organization as a whole, pointing out that many quarterbacks, like Tim Couch, Jeff Garcia and Brady Quinn, to name a few, were “led to slaughter.”
