The 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards Nominees were named on Monday December 7th and the list is quite impressive for R&B music. By now you’ve probably heard that REAL R&B music is making a comeback and based on this year’s nominees, The Recording Academy thinks so too.  Judging from the artist selection, quality talent continues to prevail atop commercialized gimmicks (sorry Omarion). Make no mistakes R&B music is still a huge genre on the charts and if you’ll just close your eyes and listen, you’ll hear the R&B influenced voices of artists like The Weeknd, Adele, Ed Sheeran, and Sam Smith leading us into the new era of true R&B music.

The R&B Black Messiah D’Angelo received an impressive 3 nominations this year and although he’s up against some stiff competition we’re hoping he brings home at least one for R&B music. Tamar Braxton is a strong contender in the bid for Best R&B Performance, which could be her very first Grammy.

Tyrese will duke it out with Faith Evans in the Best Traditional R&B Performance category. There’s stiff competition in the Best R&B Album category for Motown-tinged R&B newcomer Leon Bridges. And we’ve got to congratulate Jazmine Sullivan and Miguel for both earning two nominations this year.

Here are seven categories we hope real R&B talent takes the gramophone home in this year. The 58th Annual Grammy Awards will air on Monday February 15, 2016.
